Featured Blog: Nisha's World

I have browsed a lot of blogs this past few days and I hit one blog that seems very interesting. Nishas World of Interests discusses almost everything under the sun but mostly things about life.

I bet the author is a woman and a mother...based on what her written blog shows. There's this post of her that I liked so much, the one with the title "There's a clever little toddler at my home". I smiled after reading the post and thought that having a toddler gives so much joy. I just thought of that, but not planning yet to have one..hehehe. Reading her blogs gives pleasure for me. It's like that she was sharing her happiness with me.

For you Mommy Nisha...well-done! I really like your post. I hope to read more about your babies' progress and new activities. Inline with that, I'll make sure to post things that could help you on improving your home for your little angels.(",)

When I start my own Family, Nisha's blog will be very helpful to me especially on taking care of my kids to be..hehehe.

Sit on "Providence" by Matthias Pliessnig

A new contemporary design of benches by Matthias Pliessnig will be on display at the Wexler Gallery in Philadelphia from September 1 - October 5. His latest designs are stimulating wooden benches woven by hand using oak and ash. Providence 2008 stands out for me. The amazing shape and features of these bench shows a well hand-crafted design with meticulous pattern of weaving that creates intricate detail. And what's good about this is that one end of the bench is perfect to sit upright, and the other end was designed so perfect that you can sprawl out. -Via

Moss House

Moss House is a private house designed by Japanese Architect "Nendo / Oki Sato". This project involved renovating an old wooden house on the Shibuya River in Tokyo's Ebisu neighbourhood into a live-work space.

The hallway became a study, and the small Japanese-style room a studio.

"Veins of moss pattern the riverbank outside the windows, so we used similar veins of dry moss on the interior walls to subtly connect existing spaces with newly-renovated ones, and the house's interior environment to its exterior one. Most wallpaper imitates nature through a two-dimensional representation of it, and cladding the walls entirely in moss would simply have been too much. We wanted something in-between, so we applied the moss in a pattern that looked like wallpaper, creating an ambiguous texture that's neither artificial nor natural."

The same pattern appears on the cable outlet, and on the doorframes and door handles of the office, further synthesizing the moss pattern with the space.

Patch of Assorted Fabrics

I didn't realized that patch of assorted fabrics could make a beautiful table lamp as this. Lisa Whatmough who is a former Sculptor and Painter opened Squint in East London at the beginning of 2005. Her initial desire was to showcase the antique textiles she had been collecting and found that a fusion of period furniture and fabrics made for unexpected one off pieces. Prices of these furnitures vary depending on the final mix of fabrics used.

These furnitures give me the idea that anyone could make a piece. You don't have to spend too much on expensive fabrics, just be creative on the design you want. Collect and recycle unused fabrics and patch them together to have a nice and colorful design. Now I'm thinking of trying it but first, I need to collect colorful fabrics.

Bathroom Inspirations

In the most literal sense, bathroom means "a room with a bath". This is where we take a bath on our bathtubs or showers. Bathrooms may also contain sinks and other toilet fixtures. Bathrooms had become so modernized that you can style it anyway you want. Here are some bathroom inspirations I got from Bathroom Design Guide. Different materials, styles and colors are used from contemporary to traditional. I picked the best design for me.

I like the color of this bathroom. It gives me impression of comfort and calmness.

This bathroom is also nice. Actually this is my favorite. The color combination really fits to every detail. It is refreshing and as well, giving you comfort.

This one gives me an impression of "taking a bath on your bed". The whole room looks more of a bedroom than a bathroom. This is really good for people who spend most of the time on bathrooms reading books while soaking on their bathtubs.

What I really like about these two bathrooms are the showers. I don't know why but it is really inviting.

A variety of stairs to inspire you

Stairs are sometimes constructed of brick, concrete or metal, stairs in the home are usually constructed of wood. Nowadays, stairs follow stylish trends to suit modern houses. Here is a collection of stair images from Designed Stairs Inc. that could inspire every reader of my blog. Choose the stair that fits your style. I hope you find one!

Happy Rizzi House

I was browsing flickr when I saw this colorful house (if it is a house). It looks nice and inviting. I searched information about this one and found out that an artist named James Rizzi was the one behind all this creation. I bet he really has a good and creative imagination. This structure can be seen at Braunschweig, Germany.

The conception for facade and rooms, developed by James Rizzi in cooperation with PROJECTTEAM, are a novum in building-technic and used materials, too: it is projected to create large parts of the facade as a silkscreened membrane of glass, that really illuminates the >Happy RIZZI House<. The architects refer as well to the tradition of joyful and bright colors of Pop-Art as to the architectonic visions of the luminous crystal of the Twenties.

This is how the model of the Happy Rizzi House looks like:

And this is how it looks like now in the city:

Pretty cool, right? There are more pictures of this on flickr and visit Rizzi House website for more information about the project.

Yoda by Kenneth Cobonpue

Yoda easy chair is a palette of materials consists of rattan, buri, kawayan and abaca. Each has their own texture, colour, smell and sound. You can bend, twist and weave them in endless ways.

Yoda hi-back lounge chair consists of natural or stained rattan vines woven on a frame of mild steel in a design that uses natural material tension. I love this furniture for being so unique and so environment friendly.

Yoda easy chair is not alone. This design comes with a collection. It includes a yoda side chair, sectional sofa, bed, and nite & end tables. You could visit Kenneth Cobonpue's website to see more of his artistic designs.

Shower, Toilet & Kitchen in a Box

Because of our growing population, cities in the world get overcrowded. Spaces to live in get smaller and smaller so it makes sense for a room to have more than one function. Now there is the portable shower, toilet and kitchen called the Woonbox. This fully mobile and mechanized Woonbox is a large box which when opened up is somewhat like a book that will reveal a shower and toilet on one side and a kitchen complete with two cooking rings and sink on the other. Additional parts like the kitchen cabinet cover hinges open to provide additional counterpace. This is best for offices, apartments or even construction sites.

This Woonbox wonder was created by architects Arthur Rottier and Peter Jongman from the Dutch architectural firm, KAW as a temporary solution for use in diverse situations. Everyone can really benefit from this multipurpose box.
